White Shirts and Ties
Hello Friends and Family!
There have been countless
miracles and tender mercies of the Lord that we've had the humble opportunity
to witness here in Auburn, Alabama! I
somewhat sympathize with Jacob from the Book of Mormon when he said, "...And
a hundredth part of the proceedings of this people...cannot be
written upon upon these plates...". But, to be brief, I would just love to
share a few miracles that have occurred recently.
Elder Taylor and I (oh, I
got a new companion by the way, he is from Reno, Nevada and is awesome!) were
in the middle of weekly planning, and the Spirit entered the room and our
hearts so strongly. It said, "MOVE ELDERS." We acted, but were
completely unsure about where our Heavenly Father would have us go. We said a
prayer, and we felt very strong about a particular area we had looked at going
to a few days before hand. We left, and when we showed up, no one was outside.
We prayed and asked Heavenly Father to bring out His elect, and who He would
have us meet. With a prayer in our hearts as well, we began to venture down the
dark road and into a neighborhood. We reached a fork in the road, and said a
prayer about which way we should go. The Spirit touched Elder Taylor and we
both felt confirming feelings to go right. We had scarcely made it 25 feet when
the house directly in front of us stood out. We had just reached the bottom of
the driveway, to go knock the door, when the front door opened. We stopped, a
little caught off guard, and the man walked a few steps outside then saw us and
stopped as well. The Spirit was so strong,
it is hard to explain that moment. We
introduced ourselves, and continued to walk towards him. We shook his hand, and
told him that the Lord sent us to him. There was silence for a bit, and he just
stared at us. He said, "This is so weird! I cannot believe this right now.
Like seriously how'd you know to come here?" We were caught off guard, and
asked what he meant. He replied, "I literally had a dream a few nights ago
about two guys in white shirts and ties walking up my driveway during the night
to give me something!" The Spirit continued to press upon our hearts to
tell him that the Lord truly had sent us, and that we had been called by a
Living Day Prophet to deliver the message of the Restored Gospel to him. As he
looked at the blue cover of the Book of Mormon, we stopped talking and let the
silence and spirit do the teaching. It wasn't long before he opened up to us,
and explained how he had been praying for guidance and direction from God.
Before we left, he kept shaking his head and saying, "This is too crazy. I
can't believe this is happening right now." I have a testimony that the
Lord not only leads us to individuals that we need to meet, but just as
important, he prepares others for the message of the Restored Gospel of Jesus
Christ.
We are teaching an
individual right now who recently moved in with his dad, who is a recent
convert of less-than a year. We had been teaching him for a week, and of course
invited him to attend Church with his dad. They both came, and as the Sacrament
Service continued, I couldn't help but notice that he seemed to be a little
confused for some reason (body language I guess). After Church ended, I asked
him, "Hey, what'd you think of Church?" He was silent and looked at
us and said, "Guys, we will have to talk about it when you come and visit
with me." I was so nervous! I was
afraid he had a terrible experience, or maybe wasn't able to identify the
Spirit as easily. When our appointment came with him later that week, we asked
again about Church. He said, "I can't quite explain it. When I was around 12
years old I had the most vivid dream. I had dreamed that I was sitting in a
Church building and I knew it was the one I needed to join. When I came to
Church on Sunday, it hit me that it was the same building I had dreamed about
years ago! I know I need to join this Church. This is what God needs me to
do." The Spirit throughout the lesson was so strong, and he accepted
baptism in his heart before we even mentioned it to him. I know, truly, that
this is the Lord's Church, and that as He prepares individuals for the Restored
Message of Jesus Christ, and that he gives us the very words to say in the
exact moment they are needed to be said. What a wonderful blessing to see such
a miracle! I am so truly blessed.
There are so many
experience that I wish I could share, but time is too short! I hope you
each
had a great Christmas, and have an awesome start to the New Year. I'm grateful
for all of the Christmas gifts, letters, and prayers that I received, and was
overwhelmed to be blessed with such great friends and family. Please
know how much I love and appreciate you all.
I leave you with my
testimony that this is the True Church of Jesus Christ. I know that the Book of
Mormon is the actual and literal Word of God, and contains the fullness of the
everlasting Gospel. I testify that Christ has Risen, the tomb is empty, and He
will come again in great glory to Reign Forever and Ever on a paradisaical
Earth. I testify that President Nelson is a Prophet of God, and so witness in
the name of Christ.
Until Next Week-
Elder Robb
