First Ever.....
Hello Friends and Family!
This week was another awesome and incredible week
here in LaGrange. I hope that
everyone has had the chance to watch the
#LightTheWorld video on Mormon.org! If you haven’t, I would hope you would take
two minutes to watch the video, and plan how you will be lighting the world
through Christ during this exciting Christmas Season!
This past week, Elder Sieverts and I were able to
see several miracles, as usual. Recently, we’ve both been praying that we could
see some miracles with member missionary work in the LaGrange Branch. Earlier
this week, our phone rang, and it was a less-active member of our Branch
calling to ask for a Priesthood Blessing. Come to find out, she is actually the
Branch missionary! When we were visiting with her, we found out that she has
recently been undergoing some simple and small medical procedures (not anything
severe, but enough to let her stay home from work), and she said, “I should be
out of work until January. How can I
help?” The Spirit testified to me of how
this was an answer to our prayers, and how our Loving Heavenly Father works in
mysterious and wonderful ways to accomplish His purposes.
We were also able to see another amazing miracle
this week with member missionary work! I
got my FIRST EVER member referral since coming on my mission! It was about 8 o’clock one night, and our
phone rang. It was a member of our Branch, and we picked it up, and he said,
“Elders, I’m currently sitting with my new neighbor who just moved in across
the street from me. We’ve been talking about the Gospel and the Church for a
few hours, and he wants to know more. What day works best for you guys?” I was
stunned! I almost didn’t know what to do! We were able to talk to this
individual and get an appointment set up with him to learn more. The Spirit was
strong, and it again testified to me of how our Loving Heavenly Father always
answers our prayers sevenfold, and how He is excited to help us as we turn
towards Him.
One last miracle from the week, Elder Sieverts and
I were praying about where we should go contacting, and a certain street came
to my mind that Elder Sorensen and I were only able to do half of. When we got
there, we found a whole new neighborhood I had never seen before! This, alone,
is a miracle. The very first door we knocked on, a man by the name of Russell
walked out, and began talking with us. He is about a 70 year old Korean War
Vet, so as you can probably figure, we had LOTS to talk about! He showed us
into his home, and before we knew it, we were talking about the Gospel. We were
able to give him the Book of Mormon, and then he said, “You know, I used to
live in Michigan, and I knew so many nice Mormons up there. Yeah, I’ll take and
read the Book!” We’ve since been able to visit with him again, and he has been
reading and loving it. He even seemed interested in coming to Church (which is
rare for individuals here), and wanting to learn even more. Reflecting back, I
think of all the small miracles that had to have taken place for that to have
occurred. First, the Spirit had to bring to our attention an area to contact,
and then lead us to that new neighborhood I had never seen before. And, when
there, we were able to meet Russell, and he would have had to have had positive
experiences with members of the Church in the past, to get him to open up about
accepting the Book of Mormon. I know that leading by example is the most
powerful form of leadership, and that by being a good representative of Jesus
Christ, we are impacting someone’s future likelihood of accepting the Gospel
message at some time in the future.
I pray that you all know how much I appreciate the
constant love and support I receive on a
daily basis. I feel your prayers, and
they are always needed. Thank you for everything, and for being such great
friends to me. May Heavenly Father’s Spirit touch you during this Christmas
season to reach out more, speak more kindly, and soften our hearts towards all.
I know, without a doubt, that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I do know that He
will come again, and that Heavenly Father is a Loving and Just God. I do know
that Joseph Smith was the Prophet of the Restoration, and that Prophets are
necessary to lead and guide His True Church. I love being a missionary, and I
love spreading His Gospel Message every day.
Until Next Week-
Elder Robb
