A Small Prompting
Hello
Friends and Family!
This week has been incredible. I, as always, feel so
grateful to be in the service of the Lord in His Church: The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love the words from the Hymn Sweet is the Peace the
Gospel Brings, which reads in part, "Sweet is the peace the
gospel brings to seeking minds and true. With light refulgent on its wings, it
clears the human view." I have a testimony of the Restored Gospel of Jesus
Christ, and the blessings that flow as we make and keep sacred covenants with
our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. I know that our Heavenly Father
is not only watching over us, but He is continually in our midst. From the Book of Mormon (Another
Testament of Jesus Christ) we read, "And the powers of heaven shall be in
the midst of this people; yea, even I will be in the midst of you." I hope
that as the amazing Christmas season approaches, that we never forget that our
eldest brother, even Jesus Christ, and our Eternal God, Heavenly Father, will
be in our midst to protect us from the 'fiery darts of the adversary'. I have a
testimony that as we turn towards Christ, and accept Him, in our Hearts and
Minds, that He will begin to guide our footsteps in the ways we are needed to
go.
I did want to share one tender mercy that Elder Ledwaba
and I were able to see this past
week. We had been praying right after
companionship study, and felt going where we had planned was not where the Lord
would have us go. We continued to pray, and both felt we should go to the home
of someone we have been teaching. We didn't know why we should go there
(because we didn't have a planned lesson with her that day, and let alone
didn't have another male with us so it's not like we could go inside of her
home anyways), but we still felt good about going, even though the logic yelled
quite the opposite. When we showed up, we rang the doorbell and she answered
just a few moments later. As soon as she opened the door, her eyes got super
big and she said, "NO WAY." She then yelled in the home, "I KNEW
THEY WOULD COME." We were really confused who she was yelling at because
she lives alone, then we saw another woman come around the corner. Her jaw
dropped, and they both just stood there and looked at us. Elder Ledwaba and I
were super confused by this point, and then the woman we are teaching said,
"This is incredible! I had just been talking to my best friend [points at
the other woman] about the Church and the Book of Mormon, and she was asking
questions I didn't know how to answer! We were talking about it right when you
rang the doorbell!"
We were able to answer their questions with the Spirit's
help for just a few moments, and the other woman said, "Well, looks
like God needs me to go to this Church then!" The lady we are teaching
bore the most powerful testimony about the Church to her friend, and said,
"I can pray, and God hears my prayers. The Spirit leads this Church. How
else would these young men know to come right at this moment?" It was extremely
humbling to see how the Spirit was able to prompt us where we needed to go
right when we needed to be there. I have a strong testimony of the Holy Ghost,
and His ability to lead us to God's Children no matter where they may be. There
was nothing we did, only our Heavenly Father.
I know that Heavenly Father leads His Church, and guides
His people as they strive to be better and more spiritually mature in
preparation for the Second Coming. I am grateful for the love and support I
receive each week, and hope that you each continue to find Joy in the Savior
Jesus Christ.
Until Next Week-
Elder Robb
