In the Form of the Mormons
Hello Friends and Family!
What a week it has been. There are
simply no words to best describe how uplifting, and simply life changing,
missionary work is. I have gained such a strong testimony of the power of prayer,
and revelation. I do know that Jesus Christ lives, that He is the Savior of all mankind,
and that someday He will return with full glory. I know that our purpose as missionaries is to
invite others to repent, make and keep commitments, so that individuals can
more powerfully feel the Atonement of Jesus Christ in their lives through the
Law and Ordinances of the Gospel.
I had the amazing opportunity to go
on a blitz exchange in Macon with Elder Glenn (my last companion in Augusta)
this past week! What a fun, and life-changing experience. As we were going out
to find the Lord's Elect through His Grace and Power, we had the distinct
impression of, "Normandy." This same prompting kept coming to my
mind, and finally I remembered that this was a street name in a neighborhood
that I had prayed about earlier that week, had a good feeling about, but hadn't
had the chance to visit yet. We prayed, and both received a very strong
confirmation that this is where we needed to be. When we got there, we prayed
specifically and asked Heavenly Father, "Please lead your elect outside.
We will talk with everyone we see, and invite them to come unto You and Your
Son Jesus Christ." Within about 10 seconds, we spotted a man come outside.
We approached him, and when we did, his eyes just lit up. He said, "Are
y'all with the Latter-day Saints?" We smiled and said to him, "No. We
are from The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints!" His eyes just
got bigger, and then we said, "Sir, have you been praying recently to find
answers to your questions?" Silence. We continued, "Sir,
why would the Lord bring us in your path today?" Silence. This
man said, "Just one second." He went back into his home, and then
brought out a massive, late 1800's, Bible. He laid it down on the hood of his
car, and said, "I have so many questions. I need answers. Just last night I was praying God would send
me answers. I guess I just didn't expect
it in the form of the Mormons!" As he continued to ask his questions, and
listen to our answers, he said, "My daughter actually met with some of
y'all in South Carolina a while ago. She loved it! How much does one of those
books cost? (pointing at the Book of Mormon) Because that seems to have all the
answers in it." We were able to
have such a good conversation with him, and the Spirit was so strong. As we continued to talk with him, we just saw
how this man had been prepared by the Spirit, and the Lord was aware of him,
his needs, and many questions.
I know that the Lord leads us to His
elect as we choose to listen to His voice, follow His
commands, and obey His individual revelations. I know that the only way
to receive more revelation from Heavenly Father is by following the previous
promptings He gives you. I know that
everything happens for a reason, and sometimes we must simply follow through
with what He asks us to do out of blind Faith, even if it
seems impossible to do. I know that the reason for the Atonement of Jesus
Christ is to be our guide, our strength, and our Grace. I pray that someday I can see Him, know Him,
and be more like Him through this Infinite Atonement.
I am so grateful for the love I feel,
each and everyday from our Heavenly Father. I just wanted to end by sharing one
of my favorite quotes on the Atonement of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ, "The
role of the Atonement is to transform us, not our weaknesses.
We may feel imprisoned at times by our weakness, trial, sin, or pain, but the
way the Atonement helps us is by changing us—not necessarily by
taking away weaknesses, trials, sin, or pain. The Lord’s goal is to strengthen,
build, and develop our capacity through the Atonement—a process we may
call perfection."
I love you each
so much.
Until
Next Week-
Elder Robb
